The Eiffel tower is the symbol of Paris and probably the whole France, and one of the most iconic landmark in all the world.

It was designed for the 1889 world’s fair by the engineer Gustave Eiffel who used new building materials such as steel and cast iron.

The tower with is 324 metres tall was the tallest structure in the world for 41 years. Today is the highest structure in Paris and the second in France.

The Eiffel Tower today is the most-visited paid monument in the world; 6.91 million people ascended it in 2015.

On the first balcony are written 72 names of french scientists, engineers and mathematicians who contributed to the building of the towers thanks to their discovers.

Did you know?

If you put a huge box who can contain the Eiffel tower, the weight of the air contained in the glass would be higher than the weight of the tower itself and if you would melt the iron of the tower and distribuite the liquid metal over the actual base of the tower (125m x 125m), the material would be only 62mm height.

I saw the Eiffel tower many times (it was my 5th trip to Paris), but it was the first time i was there after i started the project 3DPrinTravel. The picture was taken from the hill of Trocadero in a windy and rainy day (you can see how the sky is grey!). For take the perfect photo we took almost 20 minutes (and over 30 shots), after that we were totally soaked!

The printing of this model using FDM technology (Fused Deposition Modeling) is quite hard because of the high number of small sections, and usually is printed using a resin based (SLA or DLP) printer, but this model designed by my friend Luis is designed to be easily (almost) printed with a FDM printer.
